My 12WBT Introduction

This is what I posted on the 12WBT Introduce Yourself forum:

I am Victoria from Sydney. I am 34 years old, single parent to 2 children, daughter 12 and son 10.

Confession first, then? I’ll keep it quick as possible…

I have been overweight for some time. I would say probably since the age of 22 - since the birth of my first child, really. Over the years the weight crept on amidst a relationship break down, moving overseas and being isolated, studying for a uni degree, moving back here, etc, etc. In that time, yes, my weight has bothered me and I did make a few half-arsed attempts at ‘dieting’ here and there - a few kilos up, a few kilos down - you know the drill.

Until mid last year, I discovered Mish’s 12WBT programme. I kept an eye out for the next round starting, checked it all out - it looked great! Woooo! And then at the last minute around the time of sign-ups, I thought to myself…. ‘I know this stuff. I know calories. I know the exercise stuff. I can do it myself! Nahhhh, I don’t need Michelle’ and I proceeded to talk myself out of it. I gave myself a challenge - if you think you can do it without her, then DO IT! And if you don’t succeed then you can sign up for the next round in 2011.

Which brings us to this round 1 of 2011! Needless to say, I did nothing about my weight. Big, fat, ugly NOTHING! Okay, so I didn’t gain any weight - I suppose that’s the only positive. That and the fact that I have now signed up for this round!

Confession over, so, woooo, that’s me! Feels good to get that off my shoulders! I have some big goals to achieve - serious kilos of chub to lose, eating ‘clean’ and learning to love exercise again, amongst others. I work as a midwife in the local hospital and work crazy on-call hours, often getting called out at odd hours of the night. I’m gonna have to get my organisation hat on!

Thanks for listening/reading!

Our little Pomeranian puppy, Ruby. In this pic, I think she is about 8-10 weeks old. She’s now about 8 months old. Still just as beautiful…
